Temple & Webster FAQs: Shipping, delivery and more
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs can vary depending on things like weight, size, location, and the carrier. But don’t worry, you’ll be able to get an estimate as soon as you enter your postcode at checkout.
For a quick idea, I checked the delivery costs for the Idyll three-seater sofa bed featured in BHG’s best sofa beds guide. Here are the shipping cost estimates I got in February 2026 for delivery to central Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth:
- Sydney: $45.95
- Melbourne: $37.95
- Brisbane: $66.95
- Perth: $109.95
I also checked the delivery fees for the Carter 4-seater with chaise, featured in BHG’s best sofas guide, which had a shipping cost estimate of $149 for Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and $344 for Perth. So it really can vary depending on the product, location and other factors.
Does Temple & Webster offer free shipping or discounts?
Every now and then, Temple & Webster sometimes runs promotions with free shipping, flat rates, or other shipping discounts. These are usually limited to specific items or metro areas, so check the details when you’re shopping. You can also keep an eye on our site for updates or use the free shipping filter while browsing.
What happens if I’m not home for a delivery?
Don’t worry, Temple & Webster has a few ways to manage this situation.
- If your order is being delivered by Allied Express (typically larger items), they will try to re-deliver it on another day at no extra cost. But it does need to be during business hours. Otherwise, you can fill in an Authority to Leave card – there’s a link for this in the email that includes shipping details.
- For Australia Post deliveries, you’ll get a card in the letterbox, or an email or text to let you know how to pick it up or arrange delivery.
How long does shipping take?
The time it takes to get your order depends on the product, your location and the carrier, among other things. You’ll get an estimated delivery time at the checkout and you’ll also get updates once your order is on the way.
Typically, orders are dispatched within one to three business days. But during peak periods or for certain items, dispatch and delivery times may be longer.
If you’re on a tight schedule, you can search for items that are available for next-day or fast-track dispatch.
What happens if my order is damaged or faulty?
Ideally, you won’t have to worry about this happening. But if you do have issues with an order, keep in mind that you have rights under Australian Consumer Law – and Temple & Webster has policies that line up with this.
- If you’re home for a delivery and it’s damaged, take photos or video, refuse to accept it and contact Temple & Webster through the live chat service.
- If you notice damage after delivery, take photos or a video of the issues and contact Temple & Webster straight away (or within three business days of receiving your delivery if that’s possible).
After reporting the issues, Temple & Webster will work with you on a solution. And if items need to be returned and refunded, they will cover the cost.
What is Temple & Webster’s return policy
Temple & Webster offers a 30-day return policy if you change your mind about something. But you have to cover the shipping costs for the return and typically get a store credit rather than a refund.
There are also some exceptions to the return policy, including made-to-order products, mattresses and clearance items.
If you want a full refund instead of store credit for a change of mind return, you can buy Temple & Webster’s “Purchase Protection” at the checkout for an extra fee. This lets you return the item within 100 days for a full refund.
What payment methods does Temple & Webster accept?
Temple & Webster’s secure checkout gives you a choice of paying with a credit or debit card (American Express, Mastercard of Visa), Google Pay, Afterpay, PayPal (including Pay in 4) and Zip Pay.
Can I buy the products in store?
Temple & Webster is online-only, so you can’t shop in-store.
Is Temple & Webster Australian?
Yes, Temple & Webster is Australian and has its head office in St Peters, Sydney NSW. As well as being founded in Australia by four entrepreneurs, it is actually named after two 19th century Australian convicts – William Temple and John Webster – who earned a pardon from the governor after they collaborated on a commission to make two fine chairs.
“This story about collaboration and empowerment inspired our name, Temple & Webster, with the powerful symbol at its core also showing all Australians that we can be there for whatever ‘&’ comes next in your life.”
