eBay discount code FAQs
What if there’s no code?
Some eBay deals don’t require a promo or discount code. When that’s the case, the deal will usually be automatically applied and you’ll see the savings at the checkout.
How can I get an exclusive eBay discount code?
If you’re looking for something beyond the deals here, eBay sometimes offers exclusive discounts and coupon codes to logged in customers. It’s usually for a specific category or product and will only be available for a limited time, but it’s worth creating a free account and logging in before you buy something from the site.
Does eBay have a student discount?
Yes, you can get a $20 off student discount on eBay Australia orders over $80 when you verify your student status and create a free account with Student Beans.
Other ways to get more value on eBay
- eBay Plus: This paid membership program gives you a huge range of discounts and benefits, including $5 off each month and member-only discounts and deals. You also get access to free express metro delivery and free change-of-mind returns on a huge range of items. eBay Plus costs $4.99 a month, with a 30-day free trial.
- Daily deals: eBay has a whole section dedicated to limited-time deals across a huge range of categories, including for DIY and tools, home and appliances. When we checked, some of the discounts were up to 80% off.
- Sales: With a variety of sellers, you’ll find sales and deals just about any time you’re shopping with eBay. You can also find a wide range of deals and savings during major sales, including Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Boxing Day and EOFY sales.
- Refurbished and damaged stock deals: Sometimes, brands may even offer deals on slightly damaged products or display models, which could save you a lot on something that works exactly the way it should. For example, on Dyson Australia’s official eBay page, I recently saw a $450 discount for a pair of the brand’s popular OnTrac headphones with a damaged box, and a $55 discount on a Dyson Corrale hair straighter with a damaged box. I’ve seen Dyson stick vacuums discounted for similar reasons in the past too – not to mention items from other big name brands.
- Become a seller: Selling items on eBay can be a great way to re-home items you don’t want or need. In some cases, you could also be sitting on a small fortune, with vintage and rare Cabbage Patch dolls, Corningware casserole dishes and even VHS tapes all examples of items that can go for hundreds or thousands of dollars.
“The value of Cabbage Patch dolls can range from $14 to $2000 or more. In fact, when we checked eBay’s international listings there were some selling for over US$5000, including a 1983 doll in its original box. There were also 17 people watching it, which means eBay included a “People want this” note.”

eBay FAQs
Got more questions about shopping on eBay or finding the best discounts and deals? We’ve got answers to some of the most common questions right here.
Can I get free delivery on eBay?
While eBay sellers choose delivery rates, there are plenty of free options. You’ll find shipping details on individual item pages, so you can check it before you decide to buy anything.
If you join eBay Plus, you’ll also get free express delivery on eligible items sent to a metro address, and free standard delivery to other areas. Look for “eBay Plus” items to take advantage of this offer, and you’ll see the free delivery options at the checkout.
How can I save on shipping on eBay?
Buying more than one item from a seller at the same time can help you save on shipping. I’ve done this in the past to save on shipping costs and now have a habit of checking a seller’s store whenever there is a shipping cost. But it does obviously depend on whether or not a seller has more than one item you want.
When will I get my eBay order?
The seller, item and what delivery option you choose can all affect delivery times. As a very basic guide, it could be as little as 1-2 business days for express post or 2-6 business days for standard post.
Some item listings include postage delivery estimates, which can help you decide if it’s suitable. But you’ll find the most accurate details after you choose your postage option and confirm your delivery address at the checkout.
Can I pick up an eBay order?
Some eBay sellers offer Click and Collect with Parcelpoint, HUBBED or a retail store. When it’s available, you’ll find details on the item page and at the checkout.
Some individual sellers also offer free local pickup if you’re buying something pre-owned.
How do returns work with eBay?
Sellers can set their own return policies. But according to eBay: “Most sellers accept returns if you’ve changed your mind.” You can check the listing for details of their returns policy, or contact them if you want more information.
If your order is faulty, damaged or doesn’t arrive, in most cases you’ll also get your money back or a replacement.
Does eBay have buy now pay later?
eBay offers Afterpay and Zip but it won’t be available for all items. Check the listing page to find out what payments are accepted for an item.
