Virgin have launched a new program exclusively for nervous flyers

Hate flying? This is for you.

Although air travel has become increasingly common, there are many people who fear flying, get travel sickness or simply find themselves struggling with nerves and anxiety from the moment they step on to the plane to the time it lands at the destination. Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot that can be done about travel sickness, but for those who find a quick flight emotionally traumatising, there is now a solution.

Virgin Australia has just announced that they are introducing a new code to boarding passes that will alert airline staff to nervous flyers, so that they can better help those in need.

“The Nervous Flyers program allows us to connect with our passengers throughout a number of touchpoints during their journey. Whether it’s sharing breathing techniques from one of our expert partners or a video to help put passengers at ease about turbulence, we want our guests to know we care and we’re here to support them.” Virgin Australia’s acting chief operations officer, Stuart Aggs

The Nervous Flyer program is for anyone that experiences overwhelming nervousness when flying and is available on all Virgin Australia operated flights, as long as you notify the airline at least a week in advance of your flight. All you have to do is tick the ‘Nervous Flyer’ box when booking tickets online. As a part of the program, Virgin Australia’s in-flight entertainment app also now includes a series of guided meditations.

The program is a great way to set nervous flyers’ minds at ease, and help you get from point A to point B with as little stress as possible.
