While the show is famous for its food, fairy floss, dagwood dogs, and showbags, prices can add up fast. That’s why come lunch time, we’ll be heading to the $5 sausage sizzle.

It’s one of the most affordable bites at the entire event, and it comes with a feel-good bonus: every dollar you spend goes directly to supporting rural and regional NSW communities.

More than just a cheap snag

The humble sausage sizzle is a staple of Australian community life, from hardware store car parks to school fundraisers, and the Big Bush BBQ takes that beloved tradition and gives it real purpose.

Proudly sponsored by Woolworths and running from 2–13 April 2026, the Big Bush BBQ is a heartwarming fundraiser. Each day of the Show, a different NSW Show Society takes over the grill to raise money for their local community back home. So while you’re munching on a classic sausage in bread, you’re also helping fund agricultural shows, youth programs, and community events in country towns across New South Wales.

It’s the kind of snack that tastes better when you know where the money goes.

Where to find the Easter Show sausage sizzle

The Big Bush BBQ is located at Schmidt Arena, open daily from 9am–3:30pm. Look it up on the Show’s interactive map before you head in so you can make it your first stop, especially if you’re arriving hungry and don’t want to blow the budget before you’ve even seen the woodchop.

Other budget-friendly bites

The sausage sizzle isn’t the only affordable option at the 2026 Show.

CWA scones are another crowd favourite starting from around $5, and Cheese on a Stick comes in at around $8. If you’re after something savoury, the Rodriguez Bros Chorizo Cup in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome is a popular and filling option at around $5 a cup.

And don’t overlook the Fresh Food Dome itself — it offers free samples of award-winning produce, making it a great way to graze without spending a cent. But if you want cheap and charitable, the sausage sizzle is the clear winner.

To find out which NSW Show Society is manning the grill on the day you visit, check the Big Bush BBQ page on the Sydney Royal Easter Show website.
