Designer lights

Add a designer touch to your space with lighting!

Lights aren’t just for seeing in the dark, they can also be design elements in their own right. Here are five designer fittings you can use to enhance your home.

Two tone magic

Home Design’s Quadro pendant lamp gives you a mix of colour and shape in one fitting. The curved shade is surrounded by an angular frame, making it seem like a 3D picture hanging from the ceiling. The contrasting colours adds even more interest to the fitting and suits a light colour scheme with a darker colour used as an accent.

Step back in time

Add a bit of old world charm to your outdoor area with the Bristol Farm wall light. The goose neck bracket and metal shade harks back to the light fittings of days gone by. The black powder coated finish is up with today’s trends and is rated for outdoor use. Position a couple around your entertaining area for lighting that’s a real feature.

Coordinate your design

Matt finishes are all the rage and it’s no surprise that this has made its way into light fittings. This means you can coordinate your lights with other features of the room. The single feature pendant in this bathroom matches the colour and finish of the tapware. This avoids adding an extra element to the bathroom which already has a range of materials and textures.

Bare and beautiful

Who says a light has to have a shade? A pair of thin filament globes make their own statement without the need for any further dressing. They’re a good solution in a small bathroom like this, as they don’t make it feel like it’s overcrowded. Placing them next to a mirror also reflects more of the light into the room and don’t cast shadows over the sink.

Outdoor stunner

Play around with lighting types and shapes in your outdoor space. Festoon lighting strung down the centre of the pergola provides a good level of ambient lighting and adds a party atmosphere at the same time. Thin cylindrical pendants over the dining table give more directional lighting. Using cool white globes in the pendants highlights the area even more as it contrasts to the warm glow of the general lighting.
