Your side path is the most forgotten part of the house, and usually the least pretty – after all, it is where your bins live!
But a side path is a great way to easily access your garden, and is often visible from the front of your property. Keep every side of the house looking nice with a simple makeover of plants and pavers.

Here are some of our favourite side path ideas for you to make sure your home is good-looking from all sides:
4 ways to update your side path

Add in pavers
Pavers and stepping stones will give your side path clear access, and add a nice linear structure to the space. Use large stepping stones extend the width of the side path.

Add in ground cover plants
Ground cover plants, like native violet or dichondra, work well in between stepping stones. These shade-loving plants are easily grown in darker, areas like a side garden, and will break up the stone with bright greens and purples.

Use gravel or pebbles
Gravel will give more neutral tones to your side path makeover, but the main benefit is reducing weed growth. Let your ground covers flourish while blocking out any unwanted invasives.

Go vertical
If you need more visual interest, a vertical garden will give you beautiful climbing plants. Use a trellis or climbing frame for your favourite climbers, and watch as they crawl their way up the wall!
