Best robot mower with wireless boundaries

The Dreame Robotic Lawn Mower A1 Pro really is the dream, and that’s because of one main feature: it’s OmniSense technology. It can also trim lawns down to 3-7 centimetres, depending on how high you want your grass, with centimetre-perfect precision. This means that your lawn will be spick and span in every corner, and your mower will not require any wire boundaries.

Following a U-shape path, this robotic mower will give your garden that effortlessly uniform look and feel. And, of course, a built-in rain sensor will send your new BFF straight on home at the first drop.

One customer on The Good Guys summed it up as “easy to use, good mapping system AI at its finest” in their 5-star review. It also has a 4.6-star average rating from over 440 customer reviews shared on Google.

One customer who rated it 5 stars earlier in 2025 said it “cuts well, goes home well” and that it even “climbs hills steeper than specified”. ECOVACS GOAT G1 robotic lawn mower

$994.99 at Amazon

Best robot mower with cameras

With both a panoramic and fisheye camera, the ECOVACS GOAT G1 robotic lawn mower makes it easy to monitor progress and your lawn directly from the app. It also has 3D obstacle avoidance and wireless boundaries that use beacon signals instead of the cords required for some more basic robot mowers.

One customer even praised its performance on a “complex backyard that requires the GOAT to go along a path, up a steep hill to mow the backyard, side yard and front yard. There are plenty of trees and edges for the GOAT to get stuck on,” they said in a 5-star review on the ECOVACS website, where the handful of reviews were all 5-stars.

“I love how if it gets stuck, it remembers for next time. After saving it for a few times, it can now confidently mow the yard without intervention. It can’t do edges very well so I still have to whipper snip but I have cut my yard maintenance down from 2.5 hours to 30 mins so I am pretty happy.”

Key features:

  • Allows for easy boundary setting with a single click on the mobile app
  • Designed for lawns ranging from medium to large sizes

How do robot lawn mowers work?

Robot lawn mowers work in a similar way to other robotic cleaning appliances, using mapped data to follow a route around your lawn. Most robot mowers have several small blades that cut through the grass at a specified height, which can range from around 2cm to 7cm in length.

But one important detail to keep in mind is that they need to be set up correctly, usually through your phone’s Bluetooth and an app. The process is a bit different for each model, but it usually involves mapping the perimeter you want the robot to mow, often using pegs and boundary wire.

Other things to consider:

  • If the mower can be controlled by an app, if you’ll need outdoor Wi-Fi coverage
  • If mowing schedules can be programmed
  • If the mower can sense the weather
  • The battery running time
What is the best robotic mower to buy?

There isn’t one best robot lawn mower in Australia, because everyone has different preferences and goals. But you can find a robot lawn mower that works for you by considering the size of your lawn, your budget and features that are important to you. For example, when choosing robot lawn mowers for this guide, key features we considered were the navigation settings, grass cutting lengths, remote control features and customer reviews. We also considered what degree of slope the robot mowers would work on, warranty details, cameras and alarm systems and how easy it was to set up and use the mower, to help you choose the right mower for your yard.

Can robot mowers cope with leaves?

Robot lawnmowers can dodge large garden items or something like your clothesline. Some, like the Mammotion YUKA 2000 are actually designed to pick up debris as they go. Still, if there are lots of sticks and leaves on your lawn, it is a good idea to clear them up before your robot gets to work.

Where do grass clippings go in a robot lawn mower?

Many robot lawn mowers don’t come with catchers. Instead, they cut your grass into tiny pieces, leaving them on the lawn, making it a personal choice whether you pick them up or leave them.

Are robot lawn mowers noisy?

A huge pro when using a robot lawn mower is that they aren’t that noisy. In fact, some of the best robot lawn mowers on our list actually have sound levels just below 60dB, which is the same as a normal conversation, according to Safe Environments. In comparison, a standard lawnmower has noise levels around 90dB.
