There’s nothing better than spending a day indulging in your favourite foods and beverages. Luckily, Sydney’s biggest celebration of loose-leaf tea is at Carriageworks this Sunday August 18, and there will be more than 70 stalls, ta blending stations, workshops, talks, tastings and masterclasses all lead by industry experts. And the best bit? There will be gin and wine as well.
This year, the Sydney Tea Festival will showcase not only artisanal teas, but also the latest innovative tea-inspired offerings from the likes of Archie Rose Distilling Co., The Canberra Distillery, Tea and Wine and Ovvio Organics. So, expect to find yourself sampling French earl grey gin, chai-infused cabernet sauvignon, and chamomile-infused chardonnay. There will even be a tea-leaf reading workshop for those interested in the art of foretelling the future.
Looking for something a little more exotic to take home? The festival is focused on presenting rare and pure teas, exotic blends, high-altitude teas from abroad, chai teas made from family recipes, Japanese matcha, traditional Chinese tea, Australian-grown teas, and healthy herbal tisanes. You’re guaranteed to find something unique to take home and try.
Festival co-founder Renee Creer said, “I think festival-goers will be amazed at the diversity and quality of teas and tisanes on offer, and the creativity of the blends and tea-inspired products available. There’s no other time or place where tea lovers can taste dozens of high-quality teas under the one roof, and chat in person to the people behind Australia’s best tea companies.”
The festival is open from 9am to 4:30pm on Sunday August 18 and entry tickets cost between $16.95 and $20.95, and include a festival tasting tea cup. Education program tickets range from $15 to $69.
