If you’re the type of person who always arrives at the airport extra early, these new changes won’t affect you. However, if you’re known to always be fashionably late, you might need to adjust your itinerary.
The budget airline has announced new changes to their check-in, bag drop and boarding gate closure times. These changes will be effective from May 23.
Domestic travellers
- Check-in and bag drop will close at 40 minutes – that’s 10 minutes earlier than previously.
- Boarding gates will close at 20 minutes which is 15 minutes earlier than before.
International travellers
- Check-in and bag drop will close at least 60 minutes before international flights.
- Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before international flights.
Why are Jetstar making these changes?
With a goal to improve operations, Jetstar’s chief operating officer Matt Franzi said that “we know our performance hasn’t been up to scratch, and we are working hard to boost punctuality and reliability.”
Furthermore, Franzi shared that the check-in, bag drop and boarding times changes are to also bring Jetstar into line with other global low-cost carriers.
