2. Improves communication

Start out small and choose an achievable project, get the kids in on the act to catch a little one on one time! It’s surprising when you have a quiet moment what kids will say. Have a laugh, talk about last week or things that are coming up whilst you are making.

5. It doesn’t need to be complicated

Anything from paper collage where all you will need is scissors, glue and old magazines to more complex projects that may involve sewing, painting, woodwork or crochet.

6. Improves sense of well-being

Starting and finishing a project helps regulate mood, it gives you a purpose and has benefits including good feelings.

It also helps teach people to self regulate their moods. In todays world we are all looking for instant gratification, making things teaches you about process and problem solving skills.

Concentration, memory and decision-making are all skills we need to practice. Craft is a great way to safely practice and improve these skills.
