Denim beach bag
This tough tote handles a day at the shops or the beach! From a pair of straight-cut jeans, cut off each lower leg then cut along each inside leg seam. With right sides facing, pin the inside seams of each piece together and stitch each seam to make a tube. Trim what was originally the top of the pieces square and stitch across several times to form the bag base. Roll the other raw edge back on itself to make a cuffed bag top and hand-stitch in place. Hand-stitch a pair of leather bag handles or 2 strips of leather at top.
Denim bed spread
Quicker and easier than a quilt, a bedspread, which has no filling, is as simple as cutting denim into squares and stitching them together. Then, surround the sewn ‘centre’ with panels of linen. Hem the sides and your bedroom rhapsody in blue is ready. Want it bigger? Add extra denim squares or make the panels larger to adjust your spread to any bed.
No-sew money bags
Trace a dinner plate onto denim and cut out. To tie the circle into a bag shape, make a series of evenly spaced holes 3cm in from edge of circle then weave 2 lengths of thin cord through holes. Fill bag, pull cords ends and tie in a bow, knotting a contrasting bead on each cord end.
