How to personalise a drink bottle using vinyl
Gather your supplies:
- Cricut smart cutting machine
- Cricut Smart Vinyl Permanent (Purple and Champagne)
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- Cricut Scraper
- Cricut Weeding Tool
- Water bottle (Black)
- Scissors
- Hand towel
- Cutting mat
For you to note
- Peel away transfer tape at a 45° angle.
- Work slowly when peeling transfer tape (or its white backing paper). As you work, if part of the design doesn’t lift off the backing and adhere to transfer tape, press the transfer tape down and use the scraper to burnish that section again from the back.
- Cricut Transfer Tape can be used multiple times. When not in use, place it back onto its white backing sheet for later use.
Instructions
Step.1

The text font and sunflower design used for this project can be found on Cricut Design Space by searching Better Homes and Gardens TV. If you wish, you can customise the font or design to suit. Alternatively, upload your own designs or download your preferred option from Design Space.
Step. 2

Follow the prompts to load the Champagne vinyl into the cutting machine. Click Make it and your machine will cut the sunflower design with the fine point blade (included with the cutting machine). Repeat this step using the Purple vinyl for the name.
Step. 3

Using weeding tool, remove the negative vinyl from the cut sunflower and then the text to reveal the sunflower and name.
Step. 4
Use scissors to cut transfer tape to size of sunflower vinyl. Working from the back of the name, centre and adhere the name to transfer tape using scraper as a burnishing tool. Start at one end of your weeded design and work outwards slowly and carefully across the design. The aim is to ensure good contact between the transfer tape and vinyl, without bubbles. Peel away vinyl backing to reveal the name.
Step. 5

Carefully position transfer tape so the name is correctly positioned within the vinyl sunflower design.
Step. 6

Flip the piece over and burnish with the scraper from the back.
Step. 7

Starting at one corner, peel away the transfer tape, ensuring the design and name are stuck to it.
Step. 8

Rest the water bottle on the folded hand towel. Starting at one end, carefully place and smooth your customised vinyl sunflower decal onto water bottle. Use the scraper to burnish it in place so there is good contact between decal and bottle. Starting at one corner, slowly peel back the transfer tape to reveal your personalised water bottle.
