Finished hanger is 1.25m long but length can be adapted to suit.
Here’s how
Step 1 Screw hook into centre of wooden batten, then clamp batten firmly to edge of table (protecting table, if necessary, with old blankets). The batten will need to be held firm enough to take a bit of tension as you work.
Step 2 Cut eight 4m lengths of cloth tie. Fold them in half, to give 16 lengths, and make a knot about 10cm from folded end. Slip loop over hook and divide lengths into 4 groups of 4 strands each.
Step 3 Following How To Tie A Half Square Knot, starting on the left group, make 15 half-square knots in each group of 4 strands. Be sure to start each half-knot on the same side so pattern spirals nicely.
Step 4 Thread 1 copper pipe coupler onto middle 2 strands of a group of 4, until it hits knots.
Step 5 Take outer strands down the outside of tube, then make another 10 half-knots, as before. Repeat for the 3 remaining 4-strand groups.
Step 6 Take 2 strands from one 4-strand group and 2 strands from adjacent 4-strand group and thread another copper tube onto all 4 strands, positioning tubing about 15cm below last half-knot.
Step 7 Tie a simple overhand knot below tubing to secure it in place. Repeat this step until all strands are used, noting that last 2 strands will be joined to first 2, creating a ring.
Step 8 Repeat process (without tubes), taking 2 strands, then 2 neighbouring strands, and knotting them together about 10cm below previous knots. Repeat for all strands.
Step 9 Depending on size of your pot, knot all strands together with 1 large knot, about 15-20cm below last lot of knots. Trim ends into a tassel.
