Who even has leftover guacamole? Sure the best way to prevent leftovers is to eat it all. But if you’ve accidently overestimated and made way too much, here’s what you should do to keep the dip from oxidising and turning brown or even black!
The best method to keep guacamole from going brown
Transfer your guacamole to an air-tight container. Squeeze a thin layer of lemon or lime juice liberally over your guac and then place the avocado pit into the centre of the container. Take some plastic wrap and tightly press it down so it touches the guacamole. Pop the lid back on your tupperware before placing it in the fridge.
How do you keep guacamole from turning brown without lemon?
Scoop out the guacamole from your bowl into a small container. Carefully pour about a cup of water to a depth of about 1cm. Cover with plastic wrap (so that it’s not touching the water) and place in the fridge. Then, when you do go to use it the next day, pour the water out and it’s ready to eat again. This method should be used when you don’t have access to lemon juice, as it can potentially cause your guacamole to go a little soggy.
