5 brilliant Kmart hacks going viral in 2026 (and they’re genius)

Clever ideas to make life easier.

It’s only January, but 2026 is already off to a promising start in the Kmart hacks department.

We’ve scoured social media to find the most clever, practical, and budget-friendly Kmart hacks that are taking over feeds right now – from genius storage solutions to stunning furniture flips that look like they cost thousands.

Here are the top 5 Kmart hacks we’ve found for you to try out yourself:

1. Wave bookshelf

The viral Kmart Wave Bookshelf has sold out twice now, but if you’re lucky enough to find a rogue one in-store, you need to try this beautiful hack. Instagrammer @bettysbungalow shows us how to turn good old Kmart furniture into a personalised piece that perfectly matches the style of your home.

It’s surprising how much a bit of sanding and a lick of paint will transform a bookshelf! Georgia chose to use blue and brown paint to create a stunning striped look. And, the best part is, it costs under $200 to make!

Georgia has also used the Kmart Wave Shelf to create butter-yellow shelves to display her favourite knick-knacks and photos.

2. Fridge magnets

As far as decorating goes, the front of your fridge may seem pretty insignificant. But I believe the way you decorate your fridge says everything about your interior style. If you’ve got kids’ paintings and family photos, you love keepsakes and memories. And, what better way to display your memories than by putting them straight into your fridge magnets?

Sydney mum Marianthe Ranieri (@athomewith_marianthe) created these delectable tiny frames from Kmart’s Magnetic Frames with gold Rub’n’Buff and her favourite family pics.

If the gold vintage look isn’t for you, these magnetic frames were originally coloured in cute pastels! Or, change it up by using your favourite acrylic paint.

3. Decorative mirror

The best Kmart hacks are those that turn a decor item into something entirely different, like this wicker tray turned decorative wall mirror. Michelle from Brisbane (@lookwhat_i_found) shows you how to create your own in just one step!

With the Wavy Decor Tray, a small circular mirror, and some double-sided tape, you’ll have a decorative mirror without the high cost.

4. Magic fairy toadstool

A fairy toadstool isn’t the most practical Kmart hack, but it’s an absolutely fantastic way to add to a secret garden or cottage garden-themed playroom. Fleur Harris (@fleurharris) uses a Kmart mesh rubbish bin, a salad bowl and some calico to create these cutesy little stools.

Simply wrap and glue the calico around the bin, attach the bowl on top, then paint it red with white spots for a whimsical decor piece that comes together in minutes. Pair this DIY with your favourite craft kit from Kmart or cosy colouring-in book for the ultimate creative afternoon.

5. Beach wagon

Finally, @lovechloejane has taken the Kmart collapsible beach trolley and turned it into a masterpiece. All you need to recreate this Kmart hack is fabric, cushions and a glue gun!

For a toddler transport device that’s fit for royalty, use your favourite striped fabric, and Kmart towelling recliners for the perfect cosy interior. Then, get out your glue gun, and make magic with a canopy that just tops it off perfectly.

Kmart hacks are really kicking off in 2026. Can’t get enough of them? Here are some of our favourite Kmart hacks from the past few years.
