With Woolworths’ Discovery Garden already proving to be a success for the supermarket giant, following its Lion King Ooshies promotion, savvy shoppers have found ways to get the most promotional plants for a smaller purchase.
Like the promotion before it, Discovery Garden lets shoppers earn one item – in this case, a plant – for every $30 spent.
An extra plant can be picked up if shoppers spend more on fresh fruit and vegetables.
But one shopper has figured out a way to earn up to 11 plants, but only by spending $40.
Hack revealed
Posting on the Woolworths Little Garden/ Discovery Garden Facebook group, the woman revealed her hack.
“For anyone wanting a quick easy way of getting little garden pots… If you order online you actually get a bonus pot for every 10 fruit/veg items in the cart,” the shopper Alana said.
“I ordered 36 single carrots, 34 mandarins and 3 lemons spending only $30.42 and got 8 plants (73 fruit/veg items = 7 pots $30 spent = 1).
“I would of (sic) done more but 36 is the maximum total of any single fruit and veg item online and didn’t want to start going up to higher-priced items so will just do another couple of $30 orders.
“The bonus still applies if you do it the $15 way too but much better value to just buy single items and get the bonus ones that way.
“My whole family are being gifted carrots and mandarins today!
“I’ve done multiple orders between $30-$40 receiving anywhere from 8-11 pots at a time from purely buying single-priced items only and nothing else in my cart.”
The promotion – which features 24 plants to collect and grow at home – promotes gardening for young children.
