Amusement parks are great fun for the whole family. Regardless whether you’re a thrill-seeker or spectator, there’s always something for everyone – whether that be a chilled-out boat ride or terrifying rollercoaster.
While most people would assume the best theme park in the world would be one of the Disney Land locations, it turns out the greatest amusement park is actually a little-known place in Germany.
Europa-Park is the largest theme park in Europe and the second most popular park in Europe after Disneyland Paris, and this year it has won the title of Best Theme Park in the annual Golden Ticket Awards – an event hosted by dedicated theme-park trade publication, Amusement Today.
Located in a place called Rust in the south-west of Germany, the park was built in 1975 and currently spans more than 230 acres of land. Europa-Park has 100 rides (13 of them rollercoasters), and 13 themed sections based on countries such as Germany, England, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland. Scandinavia, Spain and Russia. Europa-Park also has a 4.5-star rating on Tripadvisor thanks to more than 13,000 reviews. The park also gets 400,000 more visitors than Disneyland Paris each year.
The theme park is larger than most of the more well-known parks, such as Universal Studios and Disney Land, and as such the tickets are cheaper, the lines are shorter and there’s even a new aquatic section with 25 new water rides set to be opened late 2019. So, if you’re planning a vacation to Europe any time soon, it might be worth making a pit-stop in Germany.
