Thinking you can’t take kids on an adventure-based holiday? Think again.
According to Intrepid Travel, families are more adventurous than ever before, with Aussie bookings on family trips to Morocco up by 307 per cent.
“We are seeing families become so adventurous that they are even tubing in caves in Belize – talk about giving the kids bragging rights for show and tell! These trips take the stress of logistics out of travel, so parents can relax and enjoy the trip, while kids learn about a new culture from a local and make instant friends with other children in the group,” said Dyan McKie, Intrepid Travel’s Family Product Manager.
Here are five adventure-based holiday ideas to consider for your next family get-away.
1. A Turkish adventure
Discover small towns, large cities and rugged terrain on a 10 day family trip to Turkey.
On this trip, families will get creative in Goreme during a Turkish pottery class and learn to cook authentic Turkish food with a local family. The trips will be guided around the city of Kas and watch the sunset over the ocean from the ancient amphitheatre. Families will visit the surreal landscape of Cappadocia, where all ages will be enchanted by the rock formations, coloured valleys and horses carved into cliffs.
The trip includes a boat trip around Kekova to hop between islands and marvel at submerged ruins. This trip finishes in Istanbul, where kids will learn the art of Turkish water marbling using traditional methods and materials.
