Following the recent recall of eggs from Coles and Woolworths last week, and a second recall issued by Australia New Zealand Food Standards in New South Wales due to more fears of salmonella contamination, another egg recall has once again been issued in NSW for fears the produce may be contaminated with salmonella.
Fifth egg recall in just two months
The New South Wales Food Authority has issued a food recall notice for the 700g free range dozens and 800g jumbo free range dozens of Port Stephens Eggs sold at butchers, independent supermarkets and retailers across Port Stephens, with a best-before date up to and including June 8, 2019. Anyone who purchased the affected eggs can return the product to the place of purchase for an immediate refund.
The products affected are:
- Port Stephens Eggs Country Fresh Eggs Just Free to Range Eggs, 700g, cardboard box
- Port Stephens Eggs 12 Free Range Eggs Jumbo, 800g, cardboard box
- Up to and including Best Before 8 Jun 19
- Egg Stamp NSW 219
These eggs have been identified as potentially being contaminated with the Salmonella Enteritidis and may cause illness if consumed. If you think you may have consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms, seek medical help as soon as possible.
Symptoms of salmonellosis are usually limited to mild gastroenteritis but may include fever, headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, most people usually recover within a week.
