Home HOMES Decorating

If the Game of Thrones homes were designed today, this is what they would look like

The worldwide phenomenon that is Game of Thrones has finally come to an end. While we may not have all got the ending we had hoped for, virtual interior design start-up company Modsy has created a series of rooms to celebrate the final season that could impress even Cersei Lannister.

The creatives at Modsy have reimagined the homes of the four great families into stylish homes suitable for 2019, and have even included a room perfect for the White Walkers and the Night King.

The result is five incredibly different yet beautiful rooms that feel very Game of Thrones-appropriate.

In a blog post for the Modsy website, the business explained:

“Instead of mourning the loss of our Sunday evening excitement, we’ve channeled our emotions in a collection of designs inspired by our favorite Houses and the characters that graced our TV screens over the years. With so many colors, materials, and textures – we’ve got dragon skin, icy swords, floral landscapes, and dreary stone cities – we fell in love with the Seven Kingdoms all over again.”

“But unlike the fictional locations, we’ve created real (virtual) rooms for all your favorite Game of Thrones characters. These spaces are completely liveable, albeit a bit dramatic, and a sure-fire way to commemorate all the fun we’ve had watching the show.”

House Lannister

Using the signature golds and reds associated with the Lannisters, the turned-timber detailing, ornate furniture and medieval chandelier are a perfect fit for the family we love to hate.

House Targaryen

The Targaryen room feels calm and romantic, inspired by Daenerys, her early days in Essos and her time with the Dothraki. It has a feminine colour palette and natural elements such as woven fabrics, leather and timber.

House Stark

The home of the Stark’s feels cosy and rugged – as you would expect for a home in the icy North – with a colour palette of tan, grey and white accented with faux fur, leather and an antler chandelier.

House Tyrell

As you can imagine, the home of the Tyrell family is a little more green and floral, with ornate detailing and luxe fabrics.

The White Walkers

The rooms of the White Walkers feel every bit as frosty as the wild lands of the North. A colour palette of white, white and a touch of blue captures that ‘desolate landscape’ vibe, while textured rugs feel like ice-covered grass.
