While no one enjoys spending more time at the airport than absolutely necessary, it’s always a delight to discover that that airport you are currently trapped in has wonderful restaurants, shops and facilities.
If you’re an avid traveler who is particular about airports, then you may be familiar with the Skytrax World Airport Awards, but for those of you who aren’t familiar, the awards are basically the ‘Oscars of the aviation industry’, and recognise the hard work different airport put into satisfying travellers’ needs.
The 2019 Skytrax World Airport Awards have just been announced, and the awards are allocated according to a global airport customer satisfaction survey, and airports are ranked according to the responses of surveyed passengers
As it turns out, one of Brisbane airport has taken out the title of the Best Airport in Australia.
Brisbane Airport has surpassed both Sydney and Melbourne airports and been rated as the best in the country, and is set to receive a $1.3 billion new runway – which will give Brisbane the most efficient runway system in Australia when operational in mid-2020 – and a $40 million Domestic Terminal Redevelopment, and a new multi-storey car park at the International Terminal.
Brisbane airport also ranks as the 18th best in the world, ahead of Dubai, Paris and San Francisco Airports. Sydney Airport was ranked at 21st place in the global survey, while Melbourne placed 23rd.
As you can imagine, Singapore’s Changi Airport took out the top spot of Best Airport in the World for the seventh year in a row.
