An unfortunate side effect of winter is that the cold air and dry, artificially-heated homes can wreak havoc on your skin, lips and hair. Dry and chapped lips are a common winter ailment, and can be both painful and annoying. Luckily, we have some quick tips to get your lips back to their plump selves in no time.
Pick the right product
Always carry a lip balm with you that contains SPF for protection against the sun, and replenishing ingredients such as beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter or aloe vera.
Exfoliate
Whip up a quick and easy sugar lip scrub at home by mixing one part sugar and one part coconut oil to make a paste, rub it across your lips in small and gentle circles to remove dry skin and roughness. Wash it off after a minute or two.
Avoid aggravating the issue
If you suffer from dry and chapped lips then prevention is always better than cure. Avoid licking your lips, using lip-plumping products or matte-finish long-wear lipsticks that will draw moisture away from your mouth.
Stay hydrated
You are what you eat – or in this case – drink! Keep your fluids up and stay hydrated and your skin will thank you.
