In a shock move no one saw coming, Channel 7 has announced a brand new renovation show, My Reno Rules and it has an unexpected connection to the reality TV renovation world. Billionaire businessman Adrian Portelli is the show’s principal program sponsor, and as a result, he’s saying goodbye to high-stakes auctions in favour of life-changing house giveaways.
“You may have seen on previous reno shows they do auctions and unfortunately only 1% of the viewing audience have the potential, or capacity to buy these homes,” explains Adrian. “It’s an awesome feeling to be able to take the viewers on an emotional journey, to watch the houses get renovated and transformed into a dream, luxurious home and then potentially win it. It’s fantastic, it’s phenomenal.”
Everything we know about My Reno Rules
The host is Dr Chris Brown
My Reno Rules will be hosted by Dr Chris Brown in a Melbourne suburb where four teams of renovators will compete for the chance to win life-changing prize money. All they need to do is renovate two neighbouring rundown houses.
You could win one of the renovated homes
The most exciting part (in our opinion) is the live grand final, where two lucky Australians who have been watching at home will WIN fully furnished, renovated and landscaped new homes. Sounds like a dream, right?
Dr Chris Brown said, “The term ‘life-changing’ can get thrown around a lot on TV, but this is that. Imagine winning a brand-new home – that’s going to be the reality for two lucky Aussies. And if you’re a passionate renovator, you could also win a massive cash prize. With the dream of owning your own home still top of the list for most Aussies, I can’t wait to have a front row seat to that becoming a reality. It’s going to be a heartwarming ride!”
When will My Reno Rules air?
The official start date of My Reno Rules hasn’t yet been announced, but the show is set to hit our TV screens in 2026.
So why did Adrian Portelli leave The Block?
For those who may have missed it, in November 2024, Adrian revealed he was saying goodbye to The Block after dropping millions of dollars at their auctions and scoring himself the title “Lambo Guy” in the process. He also set a series record when he purchased all five Phillip Island properties for over $15.03 million last season.
The news of his exit surprised, concerned and excited many. But getting his very own show? That just answered one question we’ve all been wondering.
Is it because he had his very own TV show brewing? We’d like to think so.
On his Instagram announcement, he wrote, “Bet my high school teachers never thought… I’D HAVE MY OWN TV SHOW ON CHANNEL 7! 😆”
The next part sounds a little… spicy.
“The Reno games looking a little dusty. Time for a fresh coat 👷♂️ The gloves are off 🥊”
We took to the comments section to investigate further, and it seems everyone is here for the reality reno series showdown. “How to beat the Block …. Become the block 👀” wrote one commenter.
This all comes after The Block host, Scott Cam, revealed on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Richie that he wouldn’t miss the billionaire. “To be honest, we said to Adrian, ‘We’d love you not to come next year, if that’s all right. You know it’s up to you; it’s a public auction. You can do whatever you want’”, he said. “We do want to give mums and dads the opportunity to have a crack at a block house… but if Adrian comes and wants to buy the lot of them, well, that rules them out.”
The exit of Adrian Portelli from The Block is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it opens up the opportunity for families to get in and make a bid on the houses, just as Scott Cam said. But on the other hand, Portelli came in and dropped millions when the houses on the show weren’t attracting the bidding expected, so he actually did them a favour and, now that he’s gone… many are worried about what will happen if they don’t get the right bidders.
