But the real twist? Once the renovations are complete, the homes will be given away to two lucky families, making this the biggest viewer giveaway in Australian television history.

Hosted by Dr Chris Brown and backed by self-made billionaire Adrian Portelli as principal sponsor, the series promises plenty of unexpected twists and high-stakes turns.

So, who are the teams taking on the challenge in hopes to win the $100,000 prize? Let’s meet them.

Emma and Michelle

House 1

Queensland-based mother-daughter duo Emma and Michelle are bringing high energy and serious style to the competition. Emma runs an interior design, property development, and creative studio, while Michelle works in hair and beauty, and brings years of home-building experience.

Emma thrives on transformation. “Taking a blank canvas or something outdated and turning it into a space that inspires – I thrive on the creative process and love pushing design boundaries.”

Michelle is focused on soaking it all in. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime situation, so I am going to really try to enjoy every moment.”

If they win the prize money, Emma will use the money “to help my mum. She works so hard and gives so much, and I’d love nothing more than to see her slow down, do what she loves and finally enjoy the rewards of everything she’s given to others.”

The secret weapon they think will get them there?

“Planning and being very organised,” Michelle said. I complete tasks quickly and I’m used to meeting deadlines. I also have a good eye for design.”

“As a team, our biggest strength is our hard work, balance, and determination, Mum and I aren’t afraid to get on the tools or get our hands dirty!”

Nathan and Julia

House 1

Victorian parents Nathan and Julia are passionate renovators driven by their three daughters. Winning would be life-changing.

“It would wipe out our debt and take a huge weight off our shoulders,” Julia says. “It would also mean I could spend less time working three jobs and more time with my girls.”

Nathan, an electrician, is quick to credit Julia’s hands-on experience. “As a mum, Julia is one of the best I have seen. She is loving and caring; she’s an amazing partner and a hardworking and driven renovator.”

“Nathan is the steady, hardworking heart of our crew,” Julia said. “A practical, hands-on type with a down-to-earth sense of humour. Whether he’s tackling a project or making the kids laugh, he’s all about family and keeping life simple and real.”

Franky and Isaac

House 2

Franky and Isaac are best mates from Melbourne, and they’re already calling themselves the underdogs of the competition. While their renovation experience is limited, they’re counting on strong teamwork and determination.

Franky has tackled a Victorian home renovation before, while Isaac is completely new to the game. Still, they see their dynamic as a strength.

“My people skills and ability to work well in a team [is my strength],” Franky says. “I like to lead, however, I’m not a leader who will shut people down.”

“We are fantastic at reading each other, which can be very beneficial in stressful times,” Isaac added.

When things turn south, they have a game plan for staying calm, cool and collected.

“Isaac and I will always check in on one another, morning, noon and night,” Franky said. “If we are struggling in certain areas, we’ll pick up the slack for one another.”

“My stress comes from not being able to be in control or fully understand certain things, so I will work very hard to be on top of everything,” Isaac added.

Mitch and Shaz

House 2

Queensland newlyweds Mitch and Shaz are competing for their 13-year-old son, Lenny. With rising living costs, their desire to give Lenny everything he deserves is propelling them forward, and their experience looks promising. Mitch is a landscape project manager, and Shaz runs her own interior design company.

Together, their motto is: “If Shaz can dream it, Mitch can do it.”

Mitch admits he’s still learning. “I have minimal experience. I have done bits and pieces in our own home, and I’m willing to have a crack.”

Shaz describes their style as “classic contemporary.”

“I love antiques, but I also appreciate modern clean lines. For me, it’s more about a feeling. I love spaces that feel fresh yet nostalgic, giving people something to talk about,” Shaz said.

But of course, every team has a downfall. Their biggest weaknesses are “sometimes we can be too friendly and helpful, which could bite us in the arse,” Mitch said.

Shaz added, “I have really expensive taste LOL!”

Adrian’s My Reno Rules explainer

Who is the host of My Reno Rules 2026

Dr Chris Brown is the one and only host of My Reno Rules. You’ll renognise him from some of these most-loved TV shows, from Harry’s Practice and Burke’s Backyard, to Bondi Vet, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and Dancing with the Stars.

“Hosting a reality renovation show is a lot like making cement,” he said. “Get the mix of ingredients right (big design risks, drama and a whole lot of heart and humour) and the result is something so strong. The contestants make a show like My Reno Rules and I truly adore ours. They NEED this. All for really beautiful reasons. And by pouring their heart, soul and even some tears into every room, you just know it’s never going to be dull.”

What role does Adrian Portelli play in My Reno Rules?

Adrian Portelli is an Australian billionaire entrepreneur, property mogul and philanthropist.

“I see myself as the guy who brings opportunity, energy, and a bit of unpredictability. I’ve built my career on backing people with big dreams, and the show lets me do that. It’s a new space for me, but it aligns perfectly with what I’ve always done: take risks, move fast and bring my members along on my journey of course giving them more value and exciting opportunities along the way.”

“Transforming someone’s life with just one phone call never gets old. I’ve given away homes through my own platforms before but seeing it unfold in this environment where I can witness the journey, and not just the result, makes it even more powerful. It’s something different and exciting.”

Who are the judges on My Reno Rules 2026?

The judges on My Reno Rules are a big deal. Neale Whitaker is a familiar face to Australian TV audiences, having spent 13 years as a judge on The Block and almost a decade as co-host of Love It Or List It Australia. He’s worked with some of Australia’s most prestigious brands in the home design and lifestyle sector and he’s excited to be a part of the show.

“I love a new challenge, and the opportunity to work in my favourite city with Chris and two new fellow judges was too good an opportunity to miss,” he said. But if there’s one thing he doesn’t want to see from the teams, its “Grey concrete tiles and pendants in bathrooms. Naked lightbulbs and lightbulbs in cages. And throws. To me, they just make rooms look untidy.”

Next on the judging panel is Julia Green. Known for her love of colour, the Greenhouse Interiors founder is an in-demand Australian interior stylist, writer, speaker, brand ambassador and consultant. She’s former co-host of The Home Team and is excited for the opportunity to share her insights and expertise on My Reno Rules.

Meet the judges

“Being part of a show that celebrates creativity and courage. Renovation is such an emotional process. It is financial, personal and often vulnerable. I loved the idea of supporting contestants through that journey while championing spaces that feel thoughtful, cohesive and truly intentional.”

Direct and unflinchingly honest, My Reno Rules third judge is Simon Cohen. He doesn’t believe in sugar-coating his critiques. Simon is a buyer’s agent and co-founder of Cohen Handler: the largest property buyer’s agency in the country.

“I do love a reno, so being able to see these contestants go head-to-head, week to week, I am super excited to see the outcome and finished product.”
