Main bathroom week on The Block has always been a nail-biter, and this season was no exception. The teams were scrambling to deliver stunning spaces under intense pressure and while every bathroom hit the brief in its own way, the judges didn’t hold back when it came to pointing out the flaws.
There were moments of brilliance, moments of disaster, and plenty of popcorn-worthy drama as brutal feedback landed with a thud. Here’s a breakdown of the biggest mistakes from week 3.
Mistake 1: The door debacle
Britt and Taz made a bold design decision, splitting their main bathroom into two zones: a wet area and a dry area. They built a dividing wall with plans for a striking arched glass door but there was a problem. Custom glass like that takes time to create, so they had to send the measurements off before they even built the wall.
That created a massive fear: What if the door didn’t fit? To avoid facing that problem, they took a risk and squared off the arch door frame.
Unfortunately, that compromise didn’t go down well. The judges didn’t like it.
“Oh, there’s a lot to take in here,” Shaynna said as she walked in. The judges immediately felt the space was much smaller and more enclosed than the other bathrooms. The wet area was also larger than the dry area, which didn’t make sense when more time would be spent in the dry area.

Then, Marty noticed the squared-off door frame.
“Does that not annoy you, because it annoys me.” he said. “Can I be honest? I feel like I’m sitting in an upmarket abattoir. It’s cold, it’s scary, it’s got a bad feeling in here. I don’t like it at all.”
Yikes. That’s brutal. Fortunately for Britt and Taz, Darren didn’t agree. He loved the space, and Shaynna summed it up best.
”I love the concept, I love the idea, I love the thought process, but it falls short.”
Mistake 2: Layout disaster
Sonny and Alicia shook things up this week, being the first team to change the layout of a room. They shifted the entry door to connect directly to the walk-in wardrobe and replace it with a sliding design. It was a unique approach compared to the other teams, and made them stand out to the judges.
But not in the way they hoped.
“It’s the layout that completely lets them down,” Shaynna said, before urging them to change the layout down the track.
The silver lining? Everything else in the room was perfect. From the calming colour palette to the striking concrete bath, the judges were smitten.
“It is so relaxing and calming and beautiful, and look at this bath!” Shaynna says, labeling Sonny and Alicia’s green concrete inclusion “absolute heaven… There’s everything here that says drop-dead sexy, elegant, classy.”
If not for their layout, the judges admitted it could have been bathroom of the day and worthy of a 10.

Mistake 3: Style slip-up
Over in House 1, Emma and Ben went all-in with bold maroon tiles in varying textures, creating a bathroom that oozed mid-century luxury.
“It’s bold but not tacky, it’s rich,” Marty said. But one thing let them down.
Shaynna, as always, had an eye for the details, and one detail stuck out like a sore thumb.
Cheap-looking robes hanging on the back of the door. Such a small element, but once pointed out, Darren admitted he couldn’t unsee it and it ultimately dragged the room down.
Sometimes, it’s the smaller details that make or break, and for Emma and Ben, their finishing touches let them down.
