Brown stains on the bathroom basin are prevalent. They are usually a sign of a high amount of minerals in your water.
Thankfully, there’s a very simple solution that really works: tomato sauce!
Taking to the Facebook group Mums Who Clean, Lisa shared her success with using tomato sauce to remove brown stains around the tap in her bathroom.
“I just put it all around the base, left it overnight, rinsed it off, and cleaned it as normal. It was perfect,” she wrote in the comments.
She added that the stain had been there since she moved in. After trying multiple cleaning agents, she turned to tomato sauce.
“It’s been there since I moved in, and nothing would get it off… Except for the sauce now,” she said.
Why does tomato sauce work?
Many people wondered why tomato sauce works so well and how someone came up with the idea to try it.
One user explained, “Tomatoes are acidic, and they often have added acids. The fact that it’s thick makes it sit and soak better than a straight vinegar would.”
Others joked about bringing tomato sauce to a client’s house to clean.
“Lol. Imagine taking tomato sauce to a client’s house to clean
Me: squirting the sauce bottle all over the showers
Client: what the heck are you doing
Me: I am cleaning.”
