Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou has taken to Instagram to share the ingenious way she keeps her clothes and shoes smelling fresh.
Rather than loading up her washing machine with fabric softener, Ada prefers a clever DIY hack featuring an $11 pack of tiny cork stickers and the power of sweet-smelling essential oils.
The reel, which garnered over 1500 likes, begins with Ada kneeling beside a clothing drawer in her bedroom.
“Want to know how to make your drawers smell really nice?” she says, before pulling out a sheet of cork furniture protecting stickers and a bottle of essential oil. (We watched the reel over and over and can confirm the essential oil she’s using is Nontre.Co’s cult-favourite Thyme and Olive Fragrance Oil).

“Dab a bit of oil like that [onto the sticker] and put it inside the drawer,” she says, adding, “And while you’re at it, put it into your son’s smelly sports shoes!”
While she opts for an all natural essential oil to fragrance her drawers, she says you could definitely make this work using a perfume or bottle of essential oil you already own. Ada’s followers thanked her for the genius hack, and encouraged her to make more home hack videos.

Premium adhesive protector pads, $10.95, Amazon
Ada doesn’t say exactly where she bought her cork stickers, but this versatile pack from Amazon includes a similar product to the one used by the star. It also comes with foam pads, clear bumper pads and felt pads to protect flooring and furniture.
Thyme and Olive fragrance oil, $30, Nontre.Co
Family-owned Nontre.Co’s home fragrances are the real deal. They are made using perfume-grade fragrance oils and have incredible staying power. The great thing about this oil is that you can use it to keep your drawers smelling fresh (just like Ada) or add a couple of drops to wool dryer balls to fragrance clothing they dry. “It leaves my clothes smelling fresh for weeks,” says one reviewer.
Lavender and camomile dryer balls fragrance, $14.95, Ecoya
Another great option for gently scenting drawers is Ecoya’s Wild Sage & Citrus fragrance. It’s designed for use on dryer wool balls, but there’s no reason it wouldn’t work with Ada’s hack. It combines the uplifting effect of citrus with sage, amber and sandalwood.
