Barbecues with family and friends are the event of choice for fun, Aussie evenings and the humble sausage in bread is an essential part of the Australian summer. But what if we told you there was a way to upgrade your sausage sizzle game? MasterChef winner of season 2, Adam Liaw has revealed his simple – yet mind-blowingly genius – hack for achieving the perfect sausage-to-bread ratio at barbecues.
While MasterChef is currently on its 17th season (if you’re not watching, what are you doing? Here’s everything we know!), it has brought contestants from across the series back to win. And if there’s one thing we know about MasterChef contestants, it’s that when it comes to food, they’re creative, passionate, and out-of-the-box. If you don’t believe us, check out just a few of our favourite wacky and wonderful dishes from season 17.
The sausage sizzle game-changer
“My favourite (if controversial) summer barbecue hack is to buy a half loaf of bread and get them to run it through the slicer lengthways instead of sideways. It produces a sausage-sized piece of bread that makes for perfect “sausage in bread”. You’re welcome,” Liaw wrote on Instagram.
And for all the haters out there, he added, “For those about to comment that they prefer the overhang of sausage and/or bread from ordinary-shaped bread: You can’t stand in the way of progress.”
So there you have it, folks. Before booting up the barbie, be sure to head to the bakery and get yourself a half-loaf of bread, and have it sliced lengthways.
Perfection.
