Tasmania is known for its natural landscapes, fine food and quality breweries. However, because this Australian state is located down south, it may not be on your radar for winter travel but it should be.

The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival celebrates all things food, drink, music and entertainment and it’s taking place on July 14 – 16 at the Huon Valley.
You’ll experience the sweet sounds of folk, funk and space jazz.
There’s also going to be delicious food available from pizzas, to burgers, paella and doughnuts – all from local producers. And on top of this, the region is known for its apple picking history, so the cider onsite will be quality.
Hike the Three Capes Track
Although hiking may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re planning a winter holiday, this will change that.

Winter is an exciting time of year to be out amongst Australia’s highest sea cliffs. Expect atmospheric skies, bracing winds, cold nights, and often south-westerly winds and perhaps some rain (you may even be treated to an amazing aurora!).
