I let the Roborock Qrevo Edge clean up after me for two months — here’s my honest verdict

The results were surprising.
A split image shows the white Roborock Qrevo Edge robot vacuum in action on a light wood floor (left) and charging in its white self-cleaning dock (right). The dock is a tall, rectangular unit with a smaller circular base where the robot sits.

I’ve been eyeing a robot vacuum cleaner for a while now, mostly because I love a spotless home but hate actually cleaning. So when I was gifted the Roborock Qrevo Edge to test out, I was more than a little excited. After weeks away on holiday, my apartment was in desperate need of a deep clean — perfect timing to put my new robot vac to the test.

The Roborock Qrevo Edge promises to do a lot more than just vacuum. It mops, lifts its mop pads over rugs, avoids hair tangles and even takes snapshots of obstacles instead of bulldozing through them. It’s basically a personal cleaner without the hourly rate.

If you’ve scrolled through any social media feed lately, you might have seen this machine in action. Many swear by its powerful suction, self-cleaning dock and ability to dodge pets (and even their, ahem, accidents). But does it actually live up to the hype?

It’s safe to say I’ve been making the Qrevo Edge earn its keep over the past two months. Here’s what you need to know before parting ways with your hard-earnt cash.

Our verdict on the Roborock Qrevo Edge

  • Our rating: 8.5/10
  • Why we rated it an 8.5/10: The Roborock Qrevo Edge makes cleaning a whole lot easier. With powerful suction, an anti-tangle design and a self-cleaning dock, it’s life-changing for anyone looking to save time on housework. It’s not perfect — like all robot vacuums, it can miss a spot now and then, but it still does a fantastic job overall.

  • High suction power (18,500 Pa) tackles tough debris.
  • Self-cleaning dock with hot water mop washing and auto-emptying.

What’s so special about the Roborock Qrevo Edge?

This fully automated cleaning system does the dirty work for you — literally. With powerful suction, anti-tangle tech and advanced mop washing, it takes on dirt, dust and even pet hair so you barely have to lift a finger.

  • Powerful suction – With 18,500Pa HyperForce suction, it digs deep to remove stubborn debris.
  • No more tangles – The DuoDivide main brush and FlexiArm Arc side brush keep hair from clogging up the system (a lifesaver if, like me, your long, thick hair has claimed one too many vacuums).
  • Handles different surfaces – The AdaptiLift chassis raises the robot by 10mm, so it can move over carpets, thresholds and even sunken floors without getting stuck.
  • Smart docking station – The multifunctional dock washes the mop with 75°C hot water, empties the dustbin and cleans itself.
  • Pet-friendly features – It dodges pets, snaps their photos and steers clear of any unexpected messes they might leave behind.
  • Easy control – Use voice commands or the app to schedule cleanings, adjust suction power and map out rooms (even when you’re not home).

How to use the Roborock Qrevo Edge

If you’re like me and prefer to let someone (or something) else do the hard work while you kick back and relax, here’s how to get it up and running:

Unbox and charge up

First thing’s first — unbox your machine and get that charging dock set up. Place it against a wall in a flat space, plug it in and make sure your Roborock is fully charged.

Set up the app

Download the Roborock app (available on the App Store or Google Play) and follow the instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi. Now, your vacuum is not only smart but also connected to your phone.

Map your home

On its first run, the Roborock Qrevo Edge maps your home as it goes and you can watch it happen in real time on the app. From there, you can set no-go zones or tweak its path. It’s like giving your vacuum a virtual tour with a few ground rules.

Choose your cleaning mode

From the app, pick a cleaning mode that fits your lifestyle — whether it’s the all-around “Auto” mode, a focused “Spot” mode, or the thorough “Edge” mode. You can also schedule your robot to clean when it suits you.

Track the progress

You don’t have to hover over it, but you can check in via the app. Start, stop, or adjust settings while it’s working its magic. You’re in control without lifting a finger!

Empty the dustbin

After each cleaning session, it’s recommended to empty the dustbin. For peak performance, give the filters and brushes a quick clean every now and then.

Regular maintenance

To keep everything running smoothly, do a quick check on the wheels, brushes and sensors for any rogue debris.

Results from our test

I’ll be the first to admit — I love a clean house, but cleaning? Not so much. So, the Roborock Qrevo Edge and I were always going to get along.

Returning from holiday to a seriously neglected apartment (dust-covered tiles, floorboards that had seen better days, and more pet hair than I’d like to admit) was basically a dream scenario for testing this robot vac.

Right off the bat, I was impressed. It’s amazing at getting into those hard-to-reach spots like under my fridge and behind my wall unit. It’s also surprisingly considerate — it takes photos of my dog instead of running him over (though he prefers to chase it anyway).

The app is also easy to use and you can schedule cleans or take control remotely. Translation: I can be out living my best life while the Qrevo Edge keeps my place sparkling.

Does it get every single corner? Not quite. It missed a few sections of dust in my bedroom and behind my lounge. It also mistook a fluffy piece of my dog’s fur for, well, something less pleasant. On the bright side, this does mean it’s smart enough to dodge actual pet-related “surprises,” which I’ll count as a win.

During a baking-induced fit of rage, I did manage to spill flour all over my kitchen on one occasion — perfect timing to put the vac to the test. It cleaned up most of the mess, though some residue lingered in the tile cracks.

The self-cleaning dock is one of my favourite features — no messy mop rinsing or dustbin emptying on my part, just swapping out a bag when needed. And while it can’t climb stairs yet (one day!), it can lift itself over rugs, mats and door frames without getting stuck.

Is it perfect? I don’t think so. But if you’re someone who wants to let the cleaning take care of itself, this is probably the closest you’ll get.

What do others think of the Roborock Qrevo Edge?

Overall, the buzz is pretty positive. Reviewers on The Good Guys love the Edge’s precise mapping, excellent suction and solid battery life. Over at JB Hi-Fi, one user raved about its ability to handle their German Shepherd’s heavy shedding — a problem that stumped previous robot vacuums.

“Previous vacs failed miserably,” they wrote, citing tangled rollers and mid-run failures. But the Qrevo, with its split rollers and extra suction, has been running daily for a week without a single tangle. “I tipped it over to check,” the reviewer added, “and there wasn’t a single hair wrapped around them.”

In the expert corner, RTINGS describes it as a solid choice for bare floors, especially when it comes to dealing with pet hair and smaller debris. The vacuum’s real-time hazard avoidance system makes for smarter navigation compared to the models without it. And while its mopping function isn’t flawless, they say it does a decent job with dried stains.

Overall, is the Roborock Qrevo Edge worth it?

The Roborock Qrevo Edge is easily one of the most convenient vacuums I’ve tried. I would recommend it to anyone — whether you’re strapped for time, sick of manual cleaning, or unable to clean due to physical limitations.

It’s a solid mix of brains and brawn, with powerful suction and a self-cleaning dock that’ll have you questioning why you ever bothered with a regular vacuum. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s hard to argue against the convenience factor.

At $2799, it’s certainly an investment, but if you’re the type who loves a clean house (with minimal effort on your part), it doesn’t get much better than the Qrevo Edge.
