Move over pancakes! These buttermilk waffle sticks, coated in homemade cinnamon sugar, and served with syrup are your new weekend brekkie. They’re so easy to make, all you need is our special waffle pan.

Ingredients

Cinnamon Sugar

Method

1.

Preheat oven to 180°C fan-forced (200°C conventional). Grease 2 waffle stick pans with melted butter.

2.

Sift flour, caster sugar and baking powder into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre, then add buttermilk, eggs, extra butter and vanilla.

3.

Whisk to form a smooth batter. Transfer mixture to a large jug.

4.

Pour batter evenly among waffle stick hollows. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until waffle sticks are pale golden and spring back when lightly touched with fingertips. Cool in pan for 2 minutes.

5.

To make cinnamon sugar, combine sugar and cinnamon on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Loosen edges of waffle sticks with fingertips. Turn out into cinnamon-sugar mixture. Toss well to coat. Serve sticks warm with ice-cream and maple syrup.
