Mattress

Ban food from the bedroom and keep a mattress cover on it at all times. Revive your mattress twice a year by sprinkling it with a layer of bicarb soda. Leave to sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming it with the upholstery attachment.

Use a fabric protector spray to repel stains and dirt on your couch. Vacuum it once a month and get into all nooks and crannies with the upholstery attachment. Treat any stains immediately.

Toaster

Keep your toaster crumb-free by clearing the crumb tray weekly. Turn it upside down and give it a gentle tap to dislodge any crumbs. Keep it looking good by clearing the slots with a clean toothbrush or pastry brush. Make sure it’s unplugged first!

Don’t add more detergent than your washing machine needs. Add half a cup of white vinegar to a wash to keep your towels soft and fluffy.

Keep stains at bay by spraying inside the container with nonstick cooking spray before filling it with food.

Knives

Keep your knives on a magnetic board or in a knife block so they don’t get blunt. Avoid putting them in the dishwasher as it can warp the handle or damage the blade. Use a handheld sharpener once a year.
