If you’ve tried unsuccessfully to get a burnt pan clean, you might like to try this easy method, recommended by the Good Housekeeping Institute.

- Fill the cooled pan with water and add a dishwasher tablet or one tablespoon of enzyme washing powder.
- Bring the pan to the boil.
- Allow it to simmer for around 10 minutes. The burnt bits should lift away.
- Repeat until it’s sparkling clean, then wash as normal.
After an easier method? Try this clever trick.
