It’s that time of the year again. As spring starts to warm up, the sun starts to stay out later. But when is daylight savings and which way do you wind your clock?
In NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, clocks will go forward one hour at 2:00am on Sunday, October 7.
Queensland and Western Australia, however, do not change their clocks. Urban legend has it that by having an earlier start in Queensland, the farmers are better off.
The next time you’ll need to change the time? 2:00am on April 7th, pulling the minute hand back an hour.
If you notice the earlier sunlight is throwing you off, there’s a good reason for it.
“Our bodies work on an approximately 24-hour cycle called circadian rhythms. These rhythms are characterised by the distinct rise and fall of body temperature, hormone levels and other biological conditions,” says BEDGEAR Sleep Scientist Dr. Lorenzo Turicchia.
“All of these are influenced by our exposure to sunlight and artificial light, hence why it’s so important to make sure you’re in sync with the sun.”
