Some household chores are more obvious than others. Changing the bath mat, for example, is easily overlooked.
The truth is far dirtier than you may think. Bath mats rarely get the chance to completely dry out, and the moist condition provides the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Pedestal mats are particularly unhygienic as they collect all manner of germs from the toilet.
The solution? Wash and dry both your bath and pedestal mats at least once a week on a high temperature. You should also air your mats throughout the week so they can completely dry out.
