“Despite the plethora of options available, the clear favourite continues to be the humble flat white with standard-issue full cream dairy milk. It just goes to show that while Australia tends to be a nation of early adopters, our coffee choices overwhelmingly err towards the conservative,” says Uzair Moosa, CEO of Hey You.

Turns out the hipster penchant for diary milk alternatives aren’t the most popular either, with 82 per cent of coffee orders specifying full cream dairy milk. However, in the inner west the most popular non-dairy milk is soy, followed by almond, and coffee drinkers in the eastern suburbs are more likely than other areas to indulge in exotic options like macadamia milk and coconut milk.

Interesting research results, no?
