Everybody’s favourite cheap-as-chips supermarket Aldi has done it again and provided the masses with exactly what they need this festive season: a bottle of French champagne for just $25.
This particular champagne is authentic in that it isn’t just a sparkling masquerading as a champagne. It is, in fact, Monsigny Champagne Premier Cru, which means of the more than 300 wine-producing villages in Champagne, this bottle hails from one of the 43 villages in French region that have been rated for quality at Premier Cru level.
This particular champagne also won Best Sparkling Wine of the Competition at the Sydney International Wine Competition in 2015.
What you can expect from the bottle is subtle brioche and pear citrus flavours, delicate hints of honey and finishing notes of bright fruit. Aldi describes the finish of the wine as “long, fresh and full with loads of finesse and style.”
Sit back, relax, and enjoy your $25 bottle of authentic French Champagne this Christmas.
