This is the one crystal you need by your front door

Protect and heal the energy in your home.

What’s the first thing you see when you come home and open your front door? If it’s a stack of unopened mail, piles of shoes and household clutter, you might want to rethink how you use this space.

“The entryway sets the tone and mood for your experience every time you come home,” says Heather Askinosie, coauthor of the book Crystal Muse: Everyday Rituals to Tune In to the Real You.

It’s also the first thing that greets visitors to your home.

“To make this an area that supports a calm, peaceful, and relaxing environment, it’s important to first take inventory of your space. After you clean the slate, you can use crystals and a few other techniques to make the entryway a place where you can take a breath and leave the outside world behind.”

Step 1: Rethink your space

Before you introduce crystals into the environment, take stock of everything inside your front door. Now is the time to apply every Marie Kondo rule in the book, and make sure this zone doesn’t become a dumping zone for things when you first walk in the front door.

Step 2: Protect your space

Crystals can help balance the energy in your entry way, filling the zone with positive vibes and creating a sense of harmony. To protect your home from negative energy, place two black tourmaline crystals on either side of your front door, preferably outside. You can hide the crystals in pot plants if you don’t want to draw attention to them.

Step 3: Create a welcoming environment

Spruce up your front door with a lick of fresh paint and consider investing in a new mat to welcome you home each day. Bring the outdoors in with a plant on your console table, and select natural fibres for decorating elements and storage. Place selenite crystals on your windowsill or around the front door to cleanse the space.

Step 4: Keep it clear

Don’t allow clutter to build up in your entry way. Use baskets, trays, hooks and shelves to help keep you organised. Sweep regularly around the front door to prevent leaves and dirt from accumulating. According to crystal experts, burning sage every 30 days will help clear the energy.
