A quick and easy way to warm up your home is to add timber accents. But there’s no need to spend up big. With a little imagination you can turn basic items you already have – or can pick up for just a few dollars – into bespoke accessories. This cute project gives curtain rings new life as charming vases.

Gather your supplies
- Timber curtain rings in white and natural
- Craft cork sheet
- Mini glass jars
You’ll also need
- Marker
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
- PVA glue
Here’s how
Step 1
Position a curtain ring on the cork sheet and trace around it with marker.
Step 2
Cut out cork circle using scissors.
Step 3
Use sandpaper to rub edges of whitewashed curtain rings to give them a distressed effect.
Step 4
Apply PVA glue to one side of first curtain ring and position it on cork circle. Allow glue to set.
Step 5
Continue gluing and attaching curtain rings in a stack, alternating white and natural rings as desired.
Step 6
Allow glue to set completely, then insert a mini glass jar inside your curtain ring vase.
Step 7
Add water and flowers to inner glass jar.
For you to note:
• This project stacks both whitewashed and natural timber rings, but you can use any configuration you like. Just remove the screw eye pins before using.
• You can use a furniture protector as the vase base instead of a cork circle.
