The bathroom is the busiest room of the house – even if it’s a small one! And with many people living in smaller properties, small-space decorating is big business. While you might be inclined to go with the tried and true method of painting your small bathroom all white, there’s actually much more you can do with it – and other colours that look brilliant in a small room.
We’ve found three of the best paint colours for small bathrooms (and yes, one of them is white!) and pieced together some advice on the best way to use those colours.
1. A bright, clean, crisp cool-toned white
Clean and crisp whites are a classic colour for bathrooms because they are so versatile, and work with any design theme, from French or boho to country or contemporary.
2. Blue
Inky blues, navy and teal are dark and dominant shades of blue that may not be your first choice for the bathroom, but they have the ability to make a bathroom feel luxurious and cosy, without feeling cramped.
3. A soft pale grey
A pale grey is a wonderfully neutral colour that can be used in any room of the house, but certainly plays well with tiles in the bathroom.
How to make your bathroom pop
1. Play with light and dark
It’s important to remember that where colour is positioned can has a large impact on how it looks. Here, the darkest colour is places close to the ceiling but paired with the blue in the tiles on the floor. It makes the bathroom feel tall and spacious.
2. Use your space wisely
Light colours can be accented with dark to create graphic lines and divide zones without making the space feel smaller.
3. Use colour to create contrast and interest
This tiny bathroom is blue and white with brass fixtures, and the brass has a very glamorous feel on the blue, and a very clean vibe on the white. It creates the perfect amount of contrast in a small space.
