Come summertime, most days all we want is to take a refreshing dip in the water and cool off. But for those of us who don’t live near the beach or don’t have a backyard pool (or both), it can be a bit trickier.
This is where inflatable and above ground pools come in. Long gone are the days of portable pools being solely little inflatable ones for kids…now they come in all shapes and sizes, and are fit for people of all ages.
With affordability, practicality, setup and size in mind, we’ve rounded up some of the best inflatable and above ground pools that will keep you and the family cool all summer long.

At the bottom end of the price range, this pool really provides bang for your buck and hours of entertainment for the littlies. The bottom plug makes it super-easy to drain and it’s light enough to easily move around. Perhaps too small for the average adult but it’s perfect for kids who are still learning to swim.

The best inflatable spa
Bestway Lay-Z-Spa inflatable outdoor jacuzzi, $549 (usually $1999), Outbax

Beach Buddies 3 ring inflatable pool, $20, Myer
Suitable for children aged one to three years, this inflatable three ring baby pool is the perfect solution to a hot summer’s day. Small enough for apartment living, and with a maximum water depth of 14cm, this baby pool allows for just enough room for the little occupier to splash around (supervised of course).
H20GO Bestway magical unicorn pool play centre, $79, Target
If you are looking for a pool that can provide a little bit more aqua fun, then this magical unicorn play pool is guaranteed to provide. Fitted with an extra wide slide, basketball hoop and sprinkler feature, the fun will last all summer long. This pool is suitable for children aged two years and over – with supervision.
How long can you leave water in inflatable pool?
If left totally untreated, it is recommended that the water be replaced once every two to seven days depending on how dirty it becomes. In the scenario your pool has been treated with chlorine or a pool cleaner, then the water may not need to be changed for multiple weeks.
How often do you need to clean an inflatable pool?
Though frequently replacing the pool water is a great way to keep the pool clean, there are other methods that can further prevent grime from forming on the lining. The traditional drain and dry method is an effective method, however, if time is something that you are lacking you might want to consider an electric pool cleaner.
