Nagi Maehashi of RecipeTin Eats took to her Instagram story to share that the “best non-stick frying pan” in her opinion is actually from IKEA, and it starts at only $25.
What IKEA fry pan does RecipeTin Eats use?
It’s the HEMKOMST stainless steel pan with a sol-gel ceramic non-stick coating. Designed to work on all types of hobs, the ceramic coating reduces the risk of food burning or getting stuck. With three sizes up for grabs, and a stainless steel HEMKOMST pot range too, it’s perfect for cooking pretty much anything and has been backed up by some of Australia’s top cooks.

Why RecipeTin Eats loves IKEA’s HEMKOMST frying pan
Nagi shouted the pan’s praise, claiming it’s her “most used pan.” She got the tip from an unnamed chef, who, in an interview, said he uses an IKEA pan in his restaurant, which encouraged her to give it a go for herself.
“I stopped buying $300 European brands years ago. This IKEA one does the job just as well, lasts just as long, and is a fraction of the price,” she wrote.
“It works well on induction, is oven-proof, and has steep sides for max flat base searing area.”
She loves that she can cook pretty much anything inside with three sizes. “28cm ($29) is my all-rounder – good size for regular stove heating elements, 32cm ($39) for foods that need a wide heat source, and 24cm ($25) for nuts and single sunny-side-up eggs.”
TLDR: it’s a cheap pan that lasts, and it’s RecipeTin Eats favourite pan, backed up by a chef. But don’t just take their word for it…

Who else loves this IKEA frying pan?
Sydney-based chef, recipe developer, and cookbook author, Danielle Alvarez, quickly replied to Nagi’s story, saying she 100% agrees. In case you aren’t familiar, she is one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs, having worked at French Laundry, Chez Panisse, and Fred’s.
The $4 essential frying pan accessory
Nagi followed her story on the best IKEA pan with an accessory she has dozens of, and it’s only $4 for a 3-pack.
“I also love the IKEA pot stands, they’re no-nonsense, cheap, and I have dozens of them.”
They’re 19cm in size and perfect to pop on your counter or the dining table without worrying about burning your table with a hot pan base. Or, you can combine several pot stands to fit larger pots and dishes.
