We all know we should move more, but fitting regular exercise into a busy day is easier said than done. That’s why walking pads have become so popular.

If you’ve been thinking about buying one, you’re in luck. Aldi is bringing back its popular walking pad, offering a budget-friendly way to increase your step count while you work, take calls or watch TV.

Walking pads have become all the rage for a good reason. They’re compact, easy to use, and let you fit extra movement into your day while you work.

This is especially appealing for anyone who spends most of their day sitting at a desk. It’s not just useful for people who work from home, though. The low-impact exercise is great for anyone looking for a simple way to increase their step count without leaving the house.

What shoppers get for $199

The CRANE Walking Pad will hit ALDI stores as a Special Buy on Saturday 17 October for $199. The walking pad includes a smart LED display that tracks time, speed, distance, calories and steps, plus a remote control for easy operation.

The timber frame also gives it a more furniture-like look than a traditional treadmill. It comes fully assembled, so you can start using it straight away.

What people said about previous ALDI walking pads

If the last walking pad Special Buys at Aldi is any indication, this one is expected to sell out just as fast.

In the last sale, Redditors shared how quickly the walking pad sold out at some stores.

“Only had 4 delivered to my store; it was sold out 60 min into trade,” said one person.

Those who wanted one said the wood trim was a big drawcard.

“I just wanted it today, and also the Wood trim is aesthetically pleasing,” said a commenter who missed out.

Others who got their hands on one were singing its praises.

One owner wrote: “I use it in Microsoft Teams meetings, and the other people in the meeting cannot hear it.”

Another added: “Definitely recommend for someone chained to a desk all day to keep moving and get the steps in.”

Most owners were positive about the walking pad, although some noted a few drawbacks.

“It’s bloody heavy, seems well constructed and is easy enough to turn on its side to get out of the way when my back says ‘enough’.”

“It’s really small. Might want to be mindful of this if you do get it.”

How it compares to more expensive walking pads

At $199, Aldi’s CRANE Walking Pad is priced similarly to budget favourites, such as the Everfit ($188) and the Yagud 3-1 walking pad ($199).

Spending more usually means more features. For example, the TOPUTURE WalkingPad ($459, currently on sale for $339) offers an incline of up to 12% and speeds up to 12km/h.

At the premium end, the Lifespan Fitness WalkingPad M2 ($679) features a double-fold design, a brushless motor and extra cushioning.

But if your main goal is simply to get more steps in while working or watching TV, the ALDI Walking Pad covers the essentials.

New fitness products arriving at ALDI

Aldi is also launching a range of other fitness products, including:

  • Vibration Plate ($59.99)
  • Push-Up Board ($14.99)
  • Running Vest ($12.99)
  • Running Headlamp ($12.99)
  • Exercise Mat ($12.99)
  • Massage Roller Set ($12.99)

When and where to buy

The CRANE Walking Pad will be available at Aldi stores from October 17 as part of the retailer’s Special Buys range, while stocks last.
