Fondue, passé? hardly. Rich, creamy butterscotch sauce—kept warm and melty in the slow cooker—is the sweetest thing on the spring buffet table. Other dippers to try— marshmallows, shortbread cookies … or just eat it with a spoon!

Ingredients

Method

1.

In a 3-4L slow cooker stir together the first five ingredients (sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and vanilla).

2.

Cover and cook on low for one to two hours. Whisk in milk and rum until smooth. (You may notice some browned specks from the edges.)

3.

Serve immediately or keep warm, covered, on warm or low up to 2 hours, stirring
occasionally to keep from scorching. Serve fondue with dippers.
