Ingredients
2 cups wholegrain steel-cut oats
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1L milk
1L water
2 apples, unpeeled, cored and roughly chopped
Brown sugar, nuts, yoghurt and fresh fruit, to serve
Method

Put all ingredients in the bowl of a 5L slow cooker.

Stir to roughly mix together, then place bowl in appliance. Cover with lid and cook on the low setting for 8 hours.

Remove bowl from appliance and remove lid. Serve with sugar, nuts, yoghurt and fruit.
Cook's tips
- Any leftover porridge can be reheated the next day in the microwave, adding a little milk to help loosen the oats.
- Steel-cut oats are available from health food stores and the health food aisle of large supermarkets. Do not use quick oats or plain wholegrain rolled oats for this recipe.
