Advice for shoppers
One study found that nearly half (48%) of all Australian adults reported at least two sleep-related problems. Not ideal, considering too much or too little sleep is associated with an increased risk of chronic health conditions and risk factors. While many factors contribute to a good night’s sleep, one is a good quality mattress. In fact, a study in the US found evidence that mattress firmness significantly influenced sleep quality.
What to shop from Emma Sleep’s Black Friday sale
To find the Emma Sleep mattress that’s right for you, take this two-minute quiz. The brand has mattresses in the Luxe Collection, which feature cooling tech (ThermoSync) and Comfort Collection, with air circulation- and body support-promoting tech (Infinity Spring).
Shopping tip: Generally, side sleepers do well with soft to medium-soft mattresses that cushion the shoulders and hips for pressure relief and spinal alignment. Back sleepers suit medium-firm mattresses that support the spine’s natural curve without sinking too much. And stomach sleepers tend to need firm mattresses to prevent the hips and midsection from sinking, which can strain the lower back.
