The house from Kath & Kim is open to the public for one day only

Your last chance to have a sticky-beak at the Day-Knight residence.

Kath & Kim is an iconic Australian comedy that single-handedly made ‘it’s nice, it’s  different it’s unuuusual’ a house-hold phrase used by all Australians. And when the house from the series was sold in 2016 for a cool $1.485 million, 95% of people present at the auction were there to grab a photo with the famous house, rather than bid on it, at least, that’s what Stephen Hill, Ray White Patterson Lakes principal, told The Leader at the time of sale.

As it happens, the current owner of the property plans to renovate it beyond recognition, and rather than let the house (and all that it represents!) go quietly into the night, the owner wants to have one last hurrah and allow the public full access to the property for one day only on August 31.

So if you happen to be within the vicinity of 4 Lagoon Place, Patterson Lakes, VIC on August 31, power walk over to the house toot sweet between 10am and 3pm.

To see inside the house you’ll need to pay a $5 entry fee – which will be going towards raising money for a very good cause – Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer. The current owner of the property, Joanne Kelly, lost her first husband to brain cancer, so the fundraiser is dear to her heart.

In an interview with the Herald Sun, Joanne said that her friends and family would be dressing up as characters from the show, and that fans will find the property hasn’t changed much since the tv series was filmed there.
