From adult colouring books to mindful living, there are seemingly endless ways you can improve your happiness and wellbeing. However, solving your stress and anxiety issues, or reducing the impact of stress and anxiety on your life, could be as simple as returning to the childhood past time of building with Lego.
The Danish toy maker has revealed a new building set of Lego called FORMA that aims to reduce stress and anxiety of adults. The set uses Lego pieces to create the skeleton of a fish which is then finished with customisable skins.
The Lego Creative Play Lab has taken the innovative project to IndieGoGo for crowdfunding and is based on the idea that by combining organic forms, such as the fish and skins, with the mechanical work of building, the process will reduce stress and anxiety in adults.
According to research done by Lego for the project, 91 per cent of adults say play is good for their wellbeing, 87 per cent of adults say construction toys such as Lego bricks help them be creative and 76 per cent of adults says Lego bricks appeal to them more than other forms of play.
While this project is still in the works, it might pay to test the theory at home for yourself, and help your kids build their next Lego project or, even better, purchase a building kit especially for yourself.
