The clever DIYers on Facebook are at it again with another Kmart storage hack that will leave you saying, “I wish I knew this sooner”.

While no one is quite sure who started it, many people in the Facebook group Kmart Hacks and Decor have created extra storage in their kitchen without fixing anything to their walls. The secret? Kmart’s 3 Tier Floor Caddy and a piece of wood from Bunnings.
One of those clever DIYers is Veronica. Sharing a picture of her shelves in the Facebook group, she wrote: “I don’t know who started this trend, but oh my god, I’m obsessed!”
“We couldn’t drill a shelf as we have gas behind the wall.. purchased 2 of the Kmart 3 Tier Floor Caddy and a piece of wood from Bunnings, and there you have it!”
“I can’t wait to do this hack”
Commenters in the group love this idea, and rightly so. No drilling is required; the shelf can be removed and moved around if needed.
“I can’t wait to do this hack,” wrote one person.
Another added: “Oh wow, that’s a really good idea, and it looks good. Well done.”
“OMG. I love this group!!!! I was looking for something to get me a bit more shelving on my desk without fixing something to the walls. Project coming soon.”
How to make storage shelves using the Kmart Floor Caddy
What you’ll need:
- 2 x 3 Tier Floor Caddy, $15 each, Kmart.
- Premium pine 235mm x 19mm thickness. (This is what Veronica used. She says you can get it from Bunnings and they will cut it to size for free.)
Method
- Place your Kmart floor caddies where you want your shelf to go.
- Balance your piece of wood across the caddies.
Voila – so much storage!
