Kmart’s $4.50 buy solves one of the most common grout-cleaning problems

kmart grout cleaning set

Cleaning grout in your bathroom and kitchen isn’t always easy, especially when the narrow lines make it almost impossible to scrub properly with a regular brush.

That’s where Kmart’s grout cleaning set comes in handy. For $4.50, this little set will help you clean grout in those hard-to-reach places, without the need for professional equipment.

How the grout cleaning set works

This set includes six different tools designed to tackle grout cleaning from every angle.

The narrower, stiff-bristled brushes are designed to reach tight grout lines that a standard scrubbing brush can’t. They work the bristles into the narrow grooves to lift dirt, soap scum, and built-up grime.

Different tool shapes and sizes in the set mean you can switch between them depending on the task at hand, such as bathroom tile joints, kitchen splashbacks, or larger floor grout.

The included drip tray helps catch water and debris, keeping the mess contained rather than letting it drip onto your bench or floor while you clean.

Our verdict on the Kmart grout cleaning set

I spotted the grout-cleaning set at Kmart and couldn’t resist trying it out. I figured if those little brushes did what they promised, I might finally have an easy way to tackle the mess in my tiles.

When I opened the box, I had no idea what the tray was supposed to do. Turns out, it’s for holding your wet, dirty brushes between uses. You can just grab the whole caddy and move from room to room, swapping out brushes as you go.

Honestly, I thought the bristles looked way too long and soft to actually work. I started with the kitchen tiles and grabbed the brush with the big handle and straight bristles. I already have a grout brush at home, but the handle is so skinny I can never get enough pressure to clean properly. This one is much easier to grip, which is great when you just want to get the cleaning over with.

The other brushes made quick work of the gunk stuck between my sink and the bench. For $4.50, I have to say this set is actually pretty useful for those annoying spots you never quite get clean.

Who would benefit from the Kmart grout cleaning set?

If you’ve ever looked at your bathroom or kitchen tiles and wondered when the grout got so grey, this set is for you. I know the struggle of using a grout brush with a handle that’s just too thin to hold comfortably.

With different brush shapes and sizes, it’s easy to tackle everything from tight bathroom corners to bigger floor grout lines.

Grout cleaning reviews from customers

With a 4.6-star rating on the Kmart website, most buyers say they’re happy with the quality and value of the grout cleaning set.

One reviewer said the brush with the handle “actually gets right into the grout and is able to remove it all,” while another called it “great value, better than using a toothbrush.”

Several people mentioned using the brushes for more than just grout, with one customer noting: “This set of small brushes is very versatile and is not just limited to cleaning grout. I use them to clean in all small and hard-to-get-to areas around the home.”

The draining tray also got a mention.

“It’s perfect to hold the brushes but also [drain] the water.”

The only recurring criticism was the bristle stiffness, with a couple of reviewers wishing the brushes were “a bit more stiff” or “harder,” though most still rated the value as excellent.

Where to buy the Kmart grout cleaning set

This cleaning set is an Anko product, which means you’ll find it at both Kmart and Target.

Most buyers rated the brushes highly, but a few found the bristles a little too soft and would prefer a stiffer option for tougher stains.

What is the tray for?

The tray isn’t just packaging. It’s designed to store your wet, dirty brushes when not in use and helps drain water away, so you’re not left with drips on your bench or floor.

Can this set be used for anything other than grout?

Several reviewers said they use the brushes for other small, hard-to-reach areas around the home, not just tile grout.
